How age is calculated
Calvo subtracts the birth date from the chosen date year by year, month by month and day by day. If the day of the month is smaller, it borrows the number of days of the previous month, the same way you borrow in subtraction. Total days are counted exactly between the two dates.
Worked example
Born 15 August 2008, on 1 October 2026: years 2026 − 2008 = 18, months 10 − 8 = 2, days 1 − 15 is negative, so borrow September's 30 days: 16 days and the months become 1. Age = 18 years, 1 month, 16 days.
Leap-day birthdays
For someone born on 29 February, Calvo counts the birthday on 1 March in years that are not leap years. Laws differ by country, so use an official document for legal age.

How do I calculate my exact age?
Enter your date of birth. Calvo gives your age in years, months and days, plus the total number of days you have lived.
How do I find my age on a past or future date?
Fill in the Age on box with that date. This is useful for admission cut-off dates such as 1 January or 31 December.
How many days until my next birthday?
Calvo shows the countdown and the weekday of your next birthday.
Does it use my device date?
Yes, only when the Age on box is empty. Nothing is sent anywhere.
What about leap years?
Leap years are counted exactly. A 29 February birthday is counted on 1 March in non-leap years.
