How to make an admission photo

Take a clear photo with your face straight to the camera in front of a plain light wall, with even light and no shadows on your face. Open it here, drag it so your head and shoulders sit inside the frame, choose the size and the maximum file size your form asks for, then download the JPG.

Useful for

Admission forms, scholarship and job applications, exam registration, NADRA and passport uploads, and any portal that limits photo size to 20, 35, 50 or 100 KB.

FAQ

How do I reduce a photo to 20 KB, 35 KB or 50 KB?

Choose your photo, pick the size you need (for example 50 KB) and tap Resize & compress. Calvo finds the highest quality that stays under your limit, so the photo stays as clear as possible.

What size is a passport or CNIC photo?

A common size is 35 × 45 mm, which is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI. Some online forms ask for other sizes, such as 350 × 467 pixels for NADRA online. Always check the instructions on your own form, and use Custom size if it asks for something different.

Can it change the background to white?

Yes, if the background behind you is plain, such as a wall or a sheet. It turns everything connected to the edges of the photo white. It cannot cut you out of a busy background, so for the best result take the photo in front of a plain light wall.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The photo is cropped, cleaned and compressed inside your browser, so it never leaves your phone or computer.

Why is the file a little smaller than my limit?

Calvo picks the best quality that fits under the limit, so the result is usually just below it. If your form also asks for a minimum size, choose a slightly higher limit.

My photo is bigger than the limit even at the lowest quality. What now?

Tick the option to make the photo smaller. It reduces the pixel size step by step until it fits. Only do this if your form does not require an exact pixel size.

Which format is the result?

JPG, which is accepted by almost all admission and job portals.
